Psychotherapy, counselling and supervision in North London

Everyone experiences difficult times in their lives; you may have lost someone close to you, be facing redundancy, going through a divorce, or find yourself feeling depressed or anxious without really understanding why.

Psychotherapy and counselling enable us to explore our thoughts and feelings in a safe, confidential space. Through a deeper awareness of your thoughts, emotions and responses to situations, you can gain greater control over your life and the choices you make.  Increased self-awareness gives you the freedom and confidence to make changes.

I have undertaken a rigorous training as an Integrative psychotherapist that grounds me in core theoretical perspectives.

At an initial meeting, I will discuss with you what you wish to gain from psychotherapy or counselling, and think about the most suitable approach with you.

My clinical practice is chiefly influenced by psychoanalytic and attachment theory, both as ways of working and of understanding human development and relationships.  I am also trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing).

I integrate or combine these approaches depending on what is most helpful to you.

Broadly speaking I work in the following ways:

Psychotherapy

Utilising psychodynamic/psychoanalytic principles and attachment theory in conjunction (where relevant) with CBT/ EMDR; helpful for those who have experienced difficulties in early life, enables a deep self-understanding.

Counselling

General counselling – for specific issues such as bereavement.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Focusing on a particular difficulty.

Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

I have specialist training from Oxford University in CBT for those suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

A trauma processing therapy to help reduce distress from traumatic memories.

Supervision

Supervision provided to trainee and qualified psychotherapists.

About me

I have a wide-range of experience gained from working with individuals in respected agencies, within the NHS, for Employee Assistance Programme providers and in private practice.

Insight

I offer long and short term counselling and psychotherapy to individuals. A good listener, I provide a confidential, non-judgemental space in which to explore and think about your concerns.
